Detroit Becomes Human Review

Hello people this is the Gamerguy giving you the rundown of my new review of Detroit becomes human. What is this game actually you may ask? Well this game is a choice based action adventure that tells us the story of three androids living their automated lives in a futuristic Detroit where humans got fired from their jobs and replaced androids and they do whatever they are told with no complaints, but what would happen if they had free will. That is what this game sheds light on as you play.

Spoiler warning

story-line

The first android I would like to talk about is:

Marcus:

Marcus is care giver android who takes care of an old artist named Carl. Carl's son Leo comes in and he seems to be going through some withdraws from drugs and asks for some money to which Carl refuses. Angry Leo gets mad at Carl and starts to pick on Marcus but Carl tells Leo to leave. At night Marcus returns to find Leo stealing one of his paintings to sell. Carl stops him and tells Marcus to get him out peacefully, but Leo starts to fight Marcus. Marcus begins to start questioning why and chooses to act this leads Marcus to get shot by the cop. Marcus wakes up in a junk yard and has to repair himself with parts from different androids. he then finds an old hideout call Jericho where androids wander freely and after working hard he becomes the new leader.

This story overall has to been the most influential out of the game. The reason being that this is the main plot of the game building up to the massive conclusion. Marcus was treated like a son by Carl and grew to respect humans, but he also experiences what it means to be a leader and having to make the tough calls for his other fellow androids.

Connor:

Connor is a detective android who specializes in cases involving androids. He meets with hard boiled alcoholic lieutenant Hank Anderson for a homicide but he refuses, depending on how you treat him your relationship with hank will be affected. Not only that but on every case he starts to do illogical things like, refusing to kill an android for information, letting criminals get away, etc.

The thing i like about this is that Connor is learning about what it means to be alive, what it means to be human or not. as you play as him you feel bad about the machines who want to be free. while you plant seeds of doubt inside his mind he begins to waver and you make him feel remorse.

Kara:

Kara is a maid android who works for a man named Todd. He picks her up after she is fixed because Todd destroyed her. Todd introduced her to his daughter Alice telling her to take care of Alice. depending on how you respond to her your affects your relationship. If you and her are close enough she trust Kara with information about the how she was broken. while eating dinner Kara served them both. Todd was getting angry at Alice because he was on drugs and slapped her across the face. Alice runs away upstairs and Todd ordered Kara not to move but she still went to protect her saving Alice from him. Kara and Alice escaped from the house and went on a journey to leave the states. On their journey the two encountered friends along the way making a family of sorts.

For Kara i felt like i was trying to raising a family from scratch. the characters are much more likable that most because they seem to know family is what you make of it not by blood.

Game-play

the game play is more interactive than normal games even the simplest action requires a series of button inputs. it makes you feel like you are in the game its self choosing what to do. the fast paced button prompts make you feel a sense of urgency as you play.
